TechFlow news, July 03, according to Decrypt, UK Labour Party MP Phil Brickell has requested the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner to investigate Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, to review whether he engaged in improper lobbying regarding the Bank of England's crypto policy after receiving significant financial support from major Tether investor Christopher Harborne.
The report states that during a private meeting with Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey in September 2025, Farage advocated for abandoning the launch of the central bank digital currency "Britcoin", and opposed setting limits on individual stablecoin holdings. Christopher Harborne is alleged to hold approximately 12% equity in Tether, and previously provided Farage with an undeclared personal gift of £5 million and donated approximately £15 million to Reform UK.
