TechFlow news, July 2, according to TASS, the Russian State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation recommended passing a government-submitted bill in its first reading, proposing criminal liability for violations of laws on digital currency circulation, with a maximum sentence of 7 years imprisonment.
According to the draft, illegally organizing cryptocurrency circulation that causes significant losses or generates large income may result in fines, compulsory labor, or up to 4 years imprisonment; if carried out by an organized group or causes particularly significant losses, the sentence increases to up to 7 years, along with fines. The draft defines over 3.5 million rubles as "significant losses or income" and over 13.5 million rubles as "particularly significant". Additionally, another supporting administrative penalty draft was also recommended for first reading, with maximum fines for violations reaching 1 million rubles.
