TechFlow news, July 02, according to Financefeeds reports, the U.S. Department of Justice announced criminal charges against 19-year-old U.S.-Irish dual national Peter Stokes, who is alleged to be a member of the cybercrime organization "Scattered Spider", and has been extradited from Finland to the United States.
Prosecutors stated that the organization is suspected of carrying out over 100 cyber intrusions, obtaining over $100 million in cryptocurrency ransom, and causing millions of dollars in business interruption, forensics, and remediation losses. The case is viewed as a significant law enforcement advancement in the U.S. crackdown on cross-border cyber extortion and cryptocurrency-related crimes.
