TechFlow News, June 27: According to the Financial Times, Apple is lobbying the Trump administration to secure approval for purchasing DRAM chips manufactured by Chinese DRAM maker ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT).
The report states that Apple’s move aims to obtain regulatory clearance to include CXMT in its memory chip supply chain. Currently, the U.S. imposes multiple export and supply-chain restrictions on China’s semiconductor industry, subjecting such procurement to stricter policy scrutiny.
If ultimately approved, CXMT could further expand its influence within the global consumer electronics supply chain—and would become yet another significant case in the ongoing technological and semiconductor policy contest between China and the U.S. (Jinshi)
