TechFlow News, June 22: According to a Reuters report, during the London Climate Action Week, at the “United for Wildlife” business forum, platform companies including Google, Meta, TikTok, and Alibaba pledged to strengthen the identification and removal of online illegal wildlife trade content and explore the use of artificial intelligence for detection and prevention. Vodafone, Vodacom, and Safaricom plan to introduce AI-powered anti-money laundering and transaction monitoring mechanisms into the mobile payment platform M-Pesa.
Payment and blockchain analytics firms—including PayPal, TRM Labs, Chainalysis, and Luno—also stated they will assist in disrupting financial flows linked to illegal wildlife trade. British Airways and Heathrow Airport will launch public awareness campaigns. According to data from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the annual value of illegal wildlife product trade can reach up to $23 billion.
