TechFlow News, June 7: Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA (NVDA.O), stated that the company’s new Vera central processing unit (CPU) will incorporate memory chips from SK Hynix, and the two companies expect to expand their collaboration significantly over the next year. Speaking to reporters outside a restaurant in Seoul on Sunday, Huang said he had dined that day with Choi Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group; Kwak Ro-jung, CEO of SK Hynix; and senior executives from SK Telecom.
He added: “Our collaboration with SK Hynix this year is already massive, and we are preparing for even larger-scale cooperation in the second half of this year and throughout next year. We have launched the Vera CPU—a revolutionary central processor—which will also use SK Hynix DRAM.” Vera is NVIDIA’s first standalone data center microprocessor, designed to directly compete with Intel’s Xeon series, AMD’s EPYC processors, and custom-designed chips such as Amazon’s Graviton, developed by major enterprises.
Huang arrived in South Korea on Friday to visit partners and suppliers. He plans to meet on Monday with Lee Jung-yi, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, as well as top executives from Hyundai Motor Group and LG Group. He also noted ongoing discussions with telecom operators, as future telecom networks will be leveraged for AI applications. (Jinshi)
