TechFlow News: According to Hong Kong’s Oriental Daily News, on May 16, a 34-year-old mainland Chinese man previously traded on a cryptocurrency platform and suffered investment losses of approximately RMB 500,000. After multiple unsuccessful complaints to the platform, on May 14, the man posted online stating his intention to travel to Hong Kong to commit suicide. Law enforcement authorities immediately launched an investigation and intercepted him at a fast-food restaurant on Queensway in Admiralty that same afternoon. A lighter and suspected gasoline were found on his person. He was arrested on suspicion of “possession of an article with intent to destroy or damage property” and is currently in custody for questioning. No injuries occurred during this incident.
