TechFlow news: On May 9, Amazon Web Services (AWS) reported that this outage was triggered by a thermal event, which caused an operational failure in one of the Availability Zones within the US-East-1 Region, leading to a power interruption. A small number of instances and EBS volumes remain unavailable. (Jin10)
Earlier reports indicated that Coinbase’s systems detected a high error rate across multiple services, after which the outage was traced to AWS’s US-EAST-1 Region Availability Zone use1-az4.
