TechFlow news: On May 8, according to Xinhua News Agency, U.S. Central Command announced on the 8th that U.S. forces had fired precision-guided munitions at two Iranian oil tankers “violating U.S. blockade orders” in the Gulf of Oman, rendering them unable to navigate. Five hours before the U.S. military’s announcement, journalists obtained radio recordings of the two tankers reporting the attack and requesting assistance. The statement said that U.S. forces imposed a blockade on two Iranian-flagged, empty oil tankers—the SEA STAR III and the SEVDA—on that day, as the vessels were attempting to enter an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman. A U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet assigned to the USS Bush launched precision-guided munitions at the smokestacks of both tankers, disabling their navigation capability.
