TechFlow news: On April 22, according to an official announcement, OpenAI released the open-source weight model Privacy Filter, designed to detect and redact personally identifiable information (PII) in text. The model supports local execution and can perform long-text identification and anonymization in a single forward pass, supporting context lengths of up to 128,000 tokens. Privacy Filter has 1.5 billion total parameters and 50 million active parameters, enabling it to identify sensitive information such as private names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, URLs, dates, account numbers, passwords, and API keys. OpenAI stated that the model is released under the Apache 2.0 license on Hugging Face and GitHub, and may be used in privacy-preserving workflows including training, indexing, logging, and auditing.
