TechFlow News, April 14: According to a source familiar with internal discussions in Tehran, Iran is considering temporarily halting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to avoid challenging U.S. maritime blockades and undermining a new round of peace talks. The source stated that this potential suspension reflects Iran’s desire to prevent an immediate escalation of tensions during a sensitive diplomatic moment—precisely as logistical arrangements are underway for the next face-to-face meeting between Washington and Tehran. Suspending maritime activities for several days is viewed as a feasible, pragmatic measure to avert incidents that could jeopardize fragile efforts to resume negotiations, the source added. They noted, however, that Iran’s considerations remain fluid—for instance, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) could swiftly shift strategy to demonstrate that the U.S. blockade can be challenged without consequence, thereby potentially derailing the diplomatic track.
