TechFlow reports that on April 3, according to Ars Technica, Google has rolled out a major AI upgrade to its video editing tool, Google Vids, integrating the latest Veo 3.1 video generation model and the Lyria music composition model. Veo 3.1 generates 8-second videos at 720p resolution; free users can generate up to 10 videos per month, AI Pro subscribers up to 50, and AI Ultra users up to 1,000.
The Lyria model automatically generates 30-second or 3-minute music clips based on user-described styles—no lyrics input required. Additionally, Vids now features customizable AI avatars capable of maintaining consistent appearance and voice across different scenes and interacting with objects in videos. Google has also launched a companion Chrome extension supporting quick screen recording and webcam capture, along with a new feature enabling direct publishing to YouTube. All these new features are now live.
