TechFlow News, March 18: According to JIN10 Data, at Tencent Holdings’ 2025 earnings briefing, Tencent President Martin Lau addressed the latest developments regarding the WeChat Agent. He stated that Tencent has recently piloted numerous AI features within WeChat, aiming to conduct preliminary trials within the app to lay the groundwork for the future WeChat Agent. As WeChat maintains close interaction with users and boasts a rich ecosystem—along with a robust business model—it enables the execution of many practical applications, thereby delivering value to diverse partners. Lau noted, however, that numerous challenges remain in this process—for instance, safeguarding user privacy and security, and the fact that current general-purpose AI models struggle to handle many of WeChat’s unique functionalities, necessitating further enhancements to model capabilities. Moreover, given WeChat’s massive user base, extremely high inference capacity is required to support such scale. While no specific timeline has been set, Tencent is actively advancing this initiative.
