TechFlow News, March 9: According to foreign media reports, thick smoke rose from the refinery of Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco). A Reuters eyewitness reported that the Bahraini government had earlier announced damage in the area caused by Iranian drone attacks. The attacked site in Bahrain is one of the oldest and most strategically significant energy hubs in the Middle East, where Bahrain has heavily invested to modernize its infrastructure. Bapco is to Bahrain what Saudi Aramco is to Saudi Arabia. In terms of capacity, Bapco’s refinery processes approximately 405,000 barrels per day; by comparison, Saudi Arabia’s largest refinery—the Ras Tanura Refinery—has a capacity of about 550,000 barrels per day. Analysts say Iran’s strategy remains unchanged since early last week: to exert maximum upward pressure on oil prices, hoping Gulf states will persuade Trump to concede. To date, Bapco has declared force majeure. (Jinshi Data)
