TechFlow News, March 6: According to Axios, President Trump stated in an interview on Thursday that he needs to personally participate in selecting Iran’s next Supreme Leader—just as he did in Venezuela.
Trump acknowledged that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the assassinated Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, is the most likely successor, but he explicitly declared this outcome unacceptable. For several days, the Iranian regime has delayed announcing its choice for the next Supreme Leader. However, statements from Iranian officials on Thursday suggested the announcement may be imminent.
“They’re wasting time. Khamenei’s son is a nobody. I must get involved in the appointment process—just as I did with Delcy Rodríguez in Venezuela,” Trump said. He added that he would reject any new Iranian leader who continues Khamenei’s policies, which would force the U.S. to resume hostilities “within five years.” (Jinshi Data)
