TechFlow news: On February 20, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, posted that the synergistic effect of FOCIL (Fork Choice Inclusion List) and AA (Account Abstraction, EIP-8141) will significantly enhance Ethereum’s censorship resistance. Vitalik noted that, when combined, these two technologies enable smart wallet transactions, fee-paying-on-behalf-of transactions, and even privacy-protocol transactions to be rapidly included on-chain by 17 randomly selected participants (proposers or inclusions), ensuring inclusion within 1–2 slots—even under adversarial conditions.
Vitalik stated that the current version of FOCIL is 8 KB in size and can be scaled up in the future to accommodate larger capacity, enabling most transactions to be submitted via FOCIL. This design ensures that all transactions remain quickly includable—even if 100% of slots are sold via Proposer-Builder Separation (PBS) to adversaries who refuse to connect to the public mempool—thereby effectively weakening the centralizing power of proposers.
