TechFlow reports that on February 13, according to an official announcement, Coinbase Developer Platform’s (CDP) SQL API now supports x402 payments, enabling AI agents to autonomously query Base blockchain data and pay per request. This feature requires no API key, account, or manual approval—each SQL query costs $0.10 and is settled instantly in USDC.
The new system offers two access endpoints: traditional API-key-based access and the new x402 payment method. With x402 integration, agents can query Base data on demand, make instant payments, and receive data—all within a single workflow. The SQL API provides access to five indexed tables—including block metadata, transaction data, token transfers, decoded events, and raw logs—with query latency under 500 ms and data freshness within 250 ms of the chain tip.
