TechFlow news: On February 3, according to official announcements, Tether unveiled its open-source Mining OS (MOS), an operating system specifically designed for large-scale Bitcoin mining operations. MOS was officially launched at the 2026 El Salvador Plan ₿ Forum and provides end-to-end visualization management across mining sites, integrating hardware, energy, infrastructure, and operational data into a single unified system.
MOS adopts a peer-to-peer architecture, offering scalability, resilience, and modularity—supporting deployment sizes ranging from small installations to large industrial sites. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, stated: “By open-sourcing our mining software stack, we enable new mining companies to enter the ecosystem, customize their operations, and compete on a more level playing field—ultimately strengthening the resilience of the Bitcoin network.”
In addition, Tether announced the Mining SDK—a framework built on MOS—which will be completed and released in collaboration with the open-source community over the coming months. This SDK is a modular toolkit that empowers developers to build mining software without having to recreate device integrations or operational primitives from scratch.
