TechFlow News: On February 3, U.S. President Trump stated early this morning on social media that he had the honor of speaking with Indian Prime Minister Modi earlier today. “He is one of my very best friends and a highly influential and deeply respected leader of his nation. We discussed many topics, including trade and ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. He agreed to halt purchases of Russian oil and increase imports from the United States—and possibly even Venezuela. This will help bring an end to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, a war claiming thousands of lives each week! Out of friendship and respect for Prime Minister Modi—and at his request—we have agreed, effective immediately, to establish a U.S.-India trade agreement. Under this agreement, the United States will reduce its reciprocal tariffs on India from 25% to 18%. India, in turn, will gradually eliminate its tariffs and non-tariff barriers against the United States until they are fully removed. Prime Minister Modi also pledged to ‘buy American products,’ committing to procure over $500 billion worth of U.S. energy, technology, agricultural goods, coal, and other products. Our truly remarkable partnership with India will grow even stronger in the future. Both Prime Minister Modi and I are committed to getting things done—something most people simply cannot do.” (Jinshi Data)
