TechFlow News, January 30: According to JIN10 Data, on Friday, Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren raised multiple concerns regarding Trump’s decision to nominate Kevin Warsh. As the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee—the first stop in Warsh’s nomination confirmation process—Warren questioned whether Warsh could lead the Federal Reserve independently of White House influence. “Trump has stated that anyone who disagrees with him cannot serve as Fed Chair,” Warren said in her statement. “Former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh—who, after the 2008 financial crisis, prioritized helping Wall Street over millions of unemployed Americans—has clearly passed the loyalty test.” Warren urged Republicans to pause advancement of Warsh’s nomination until the Department of Justice concludes its investigation into current Fed Chair Jerome Powell. “Any Republican who claims to care about the Fed’s independence should refuse to advance this nomination until Trump ends his ‘political witch hunt’ against current Fed Chair Jerome Powell and Fed Governor Lisa Cook,” she said.
