TechFlow news, January 18 — According to Sina Finance, Elon Musk filed documents with a court on Friday stating he is seeking up to $134 billion in damages from AI startup OpenAI and its shareholder Microsoft, claiming unjust enrichment stemming from his early support of the company.
The documents submitted by Musk show that he contributed approximately $38 million, accounting for 60% of OpenAI's initial seed funding, assisted in recruiting staff, helped founders connect with key individuals, and provided credibility during the project’s early stages. Musk stated in the filing: "Just as an early investor in a startup might receive returns many orders of magnitude greater than their initial investment, the unjust gains obtained by OpenAI and Microsoft—gains which Musk now seeks to reclaim—far exceed his original contribution."
