TechFlow reported on January 13 that according to PeckShield data, cryptocurrency-related thefts reached a record high in 2025 with total losses amounting to $4.04 billion, a 34.2% increase year-on-year. Of this, $2.67 billion was lost to hacking attacks (up 24.2%) and $1.37 billion to scams (up 64.2%). Notably, only $334.9 million in stolen cryptocurrency was recovered or frozen, down from $488.5 million in 2024.
