TechFlow news — On January 10, according to The Verge, financial app Betterment sent suspicious notifications to users on Friday, instructing them to send $10,000 worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum to cryptocurrency wallets, promising a "triple return on crypto."
As shown in user screenshots posted on Reddit, the notification claimed: "Betterment is giving back to users! We're celebrating our best year yet by tripling Bitcoin and Ethereum deposits within the next three hours. For example, if you send $10,000 worth of Bitcoin or Ethereum, we'll return $30,000 to your sending address."
Betterment later responded on social media platform X, stating that this was an "unauthorized message" sent through their third-party system used for marketing and customer communications, and emphasized that this was not a legitimate offer and should be ignored.
