TechFlow reported on January 9, citing Decrypt, that a residence in Manosque, France was robbed Monday evening by three masked men who broke into the home. The intruders brandished firearms, tied up a woman, and stole a USB device containing her partner's cryptocurrency data.
After freeing herself, the victim immediately contacted police, and the local criminal investigation unit has launched an inquiry. According to data from Jameson Lopp, Chief Technology Officer at security company Casa, more than 70 "wrench attacks"—incidents involving physical threats to obtain cryptographic assets—were recorded globally last year, with France emerging as Europe's hotspot for crypto-related crimes, reporting 14 such incidents.
