TechFlow reports that on July 16, the Cardano Foundation shared a post stating that it engaged in dialogue with automotive company Volvo Group to explore the application of blockchain technology in the manufacturing industry.
Ivan Branco, responsible for information management, artificial intelligence, and data analysis for Volvo Group's truck business in Belgium, mentioned in the interview that supply chain compliance is a key use case for blockchain implementation. If assembled parts contain components from sanctioned countries, manufacturers may face repeated fines, whereas a ledger shared among suppliers can eliminate trust issues at the source.
Ivan Branco stated that Volvo once created a proprietary cryptocurrency to internally test supplier payment processes. Ivan Branco believes that the relevant technology is already viable, but the supporting organizational culture has not caught up, which is a more difficult problem to solve than the technology itself.
