TechFlow, December 19 — According to CriptoNoticias, police in São Paulo state, Brazil, arrested eight suspects involved in a Bitcoin robbery during a large-scale operation codenamed "Operation Cryptonita," with one suspect still at large. The investigation revealed that the victim had disclosed his Bitcoin investments to a worker during office renovations, and was subsequently robbed at gunpoint in November 2024.
Within approximately one hour, the criminal group forced the victim to transfer Bitcoin worth about $54,000 and stole a truck, mobile phones, and laptops valued at $36,200. Police traced digital transactions and discovered that the suspects created shell companies to launder money. Most of the suspects have prior criminal records and are linked to the construction industry.
