TechFlow news, December 11 — According to Jinshi Data, U.S. President Trump announced on Wednesday that his long-promised "Golden Card" is officially available for purchase. Individuals who pay $1 million, and foreign employees sponsored by companies paying $2 million, will gain legal status, paving the way toward U.S. citizenship.
At the Roosevelt Room in the White House, Trump unveiled the launch of this program surrounded by business leaders, while an official website accepting applications went live simultaneously. This move aims to replace the EB-5 investment immigration visa.
The EB-5 program was established by Congress in 1990 to attract foreign investment, originally requiring investors to inject approximately $1 million into a company that creates at least 10 jobs.
Trump believes the new "Golden Card" is an effective means for the United States to attract and retain top global talent, as well as a significant source of federal revenue. He has been promoting the "Golden Card" for months, initially proposing a price tag of $5 million per card, but recently finalized the pricing at $1 million per individual and $2 million per corporate-sponsored employee.
Trump promised that all funds collected through this program will be "fully remitted to the U.S. government." He expects hundreds of billions of dollars to flow into a dedicated account managed by the Treasury Department, stating, "These funds can be used for things that benefit the nation."
