TechFlow news, December 9 — Teresa Ribera, the European Commission's competition chief, said the EU needs to equip its antitrust division with more resources to effectively regulate the world's most influential tech giants. Her remarks came during a conference in Brussels, as the EU announced an investigation into Google over how it uses publishers' content to train its artificial intelligence tools. Earlier this month, the EU also launched an inquiry into Meta for its new policy that blocks rival AI services from accessing WhatsApp's business features while deeply integrating its own Meta AI into the platform. "I believe we need to strengthen our team," Ribera said. "We've tried to operate within our current resources, but we have formally requested additional personnel and budget to expand our capacity."
