TechFlow, Dec 7 — According to Bloomberg, CyrusOne confirmed that its data center in Aurora, Illinois experienced an outage lasting over 10 hours during the weekend, disrupting markets operated by CME Group due to human error. On-site staff and contractors failed to follow standard procedures to drain cooling towers ahead of freezing temperatures, ultimately causing the cooling system to overload and temperatures to rise. CyrusOne is jointly owned by KKR & Co. and Global Infrastructure Partners. The incident has raised concerns about the reliability of financial market infrastructure.
Earlier report: On November 28, trading of commodities futures at CME Group was suspended.
