TechFlow news — On November 26, a family residing in British Columbia, Canada, recounted a horrifying home invasion robbery that occurred in April 2024. Four masked intruders disguised themselves as postal workers to gain entry into the victims' home, subjected the parents to waterboarding and physical assault, forced their 18-year-old daughter to take nude photographs, and through 13 hours of violent coercion, stole the family’s entire life savings—1.6 million dollars worth of Bitcoin.
A suspect from Hong Kong involved in the crime has been sentenced to seven years in prison, admitting he participated for a payment of 50,000 Canadian dollars. Three other suspects remain at large. Police warn that similar incidents may continue as organized criminals increasingly target cryptocurrency investors.
