TechFlow news, November 26 — According to Jinshi Data, sources close to the matter revealed that as the selection process for the next Federal Reserve chair enters its final weeks, Kevin Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council, has emerged as the leading contender in the eyes of President Trump's advisors and allies.
Sources said that if Hassett is appointed, Trump would be able to place a close ally whom he knows well and trusts at the Fed. Some also noted that Hassett is seen as someone who can bring Trump's vision of lower interest rates into the central bank—a direction Trump has long sought to influence. However, they added that Trump is known for making unexpected personnel and policy decisions, so nothing is certain until an official announcement is made.
Hassett is considered highly aligned with Trump on economic views, including the belief that interest rates should be lowered. In a Fox News interview on November 20, he stated that if he were Fed chair, he would "cut rates now," because "the data suggests we should."
