TechFlow, November 18 — According to CNBC, U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Jack Reed sent a letter to the Department of Justice and the Treasury Department calling for an investigation into potential national security risks linked to cryptocurrency firm World Liberty Financial, which has close ties to the Trump family.
Earlier, watchdog group Accountable.US reported that World Liberty Financial sold its $WLFI governance tokens to "various highly suspicious entities," including traders associated with North Korea's Lazarus Group hacking organization, sanctioned Russian "ruble-backed sanctions evasion tools," Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges, and the money-laundering platform Tornado Cash.
The senators warned that the company’s inadequate anti-money laundering controls could "facilitate illicit financial activity."
