TechFlow, November 15 — The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong announced the reappointment of Chief Executive Officer Julia Leung for another two-year term, effective from January 1, 2026. Leung has served as CEO of the SFC since January 1, 2023. During her tenure, she introduced the licensing regime for virtual asset trading platforms and published a virtual asset roadmap, demonstrating a relatively friendly stance toward the digital asset industry and describing its future as vibrant and full of promise. She also emphasized the regulatory principle of "same activity, same risk, same rules," under which cryptocurrency over-the-counter trading platforms and custodial firms will be brought into the regulatory scope.
