TechFlow news, on November 2, according to Decrypt, the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) fined Bitcoin ATM operator Coinhub $675,000 for violations of the Digital Financial Assets Law (DFAL), including $105,000 to be refunded to affected California consumers who were overcharged.
The DFPI stated that since 2024, Coinhub has committed multiple violations, including: charging fees above the legal cap, allowing cash transactions exceeding the daily $1,000 limit, missing key information on withdrawal receipts, and failing to provide the legally required disclaimer prior to transactions.
This marks the DFPI's fourth recent enforcement action against cryptocurrency ATM operators.
