TechFlow, October 21 — According to Jinshi Data, a Reuters survey of economists conducted from October 15 to 21 shows that the Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates by 25 basis points at both its next meeting and in December. However, economists remain deeply divided over the projected interest rate level by the end of next year. Just one month ago, economists anticipated only one rate cut this year. This new forecast follows a recent shift in expectations among Fed policymakers toward supporting further rate cuts.
Out of 117 economists, 115—excluding two—expect the Fed to lower rates by another 25 basis points on October 29, bringing the target range to 3.75%-4.00%. Two economists predict a 25-basis-point cut in October and a 50-basis-point reduction in December. The share of economists expecting another cut in December has dropped to 71%. Financial market traders hold firmer expectations, with interest rate futures fully pricing in two more rate cuts this year.
