TechFlow, October 20 — According to Cointelegraph, Ethereum core developer Federico Carrone recently issued a warning that the growing influence of venture capital firm Paradigm over the Ethereum network could pose a potential risk to the ecosystem. Carrone stated on social media that although Paradigm has created value for the community, its objectives as a profit- and influence-driven venture fund may conflict with Ethereum's philosophical and political principles.
Paradigm has gradually expanded its influence within the ecosystem by hiring key Ethereum researchers and funding open-source libraries critical to Ethereum. The firm recently partnered with fintech giant Stripe to incubate Tempo, a competing Layer-1 blockchain focused on stablecoins and payments, which is effectively controlled by Stripe—standing in stark contrast to Ethereum’s decentralized and open-source nature.
