TechFlow news, October 17 — According to Jinshi Data, U.S. President Trump filed a new defamation lawsuit against The New York Times and several journalists on Thursday local time, accusing the media outlet of attempting to undermine his 2024 presidential campaign and damage his business reputation. A federal judge had previously dismissed his initial complaint, citing its length and lack of focus. The revised complaint submitted Thursday evening has been shortened to 40 pages—less than half the original length. Michael S. Schmidt, a New York Times journalist originally named as a defendant, has been removed from the list. Also deleted were numerous lengthy praises of Trump, including claims that his 2024 election victory would be "the greatest personal and political achievement in American history." Like the initial complaint, the revised version still seeks $15 billion in damages.
