TechFlow news, on October 15, renowned on-chain investigator ZachXBT successfully identified a suspect behind the 2024 Bittensor hack by tracing anime NFT money laundering transactions, earning a white-hat bounty. Between May and July this year, 32 $TAO holders suffered over $28 million in unauthorized transfers, forcing the Bittensor network to halt operations on July 2. Investigations revealed that the attacker stole funds via a malicious PyPi supply chain attack, then bridged the stolen assets natively from Bittensor to Ethereum, transferred approximately $4.94 million across multiple addresses into the privacy protocol Railgun, and ultimately converted them into Monero (XMR).
