TechFlow news, October 5 — According to IT Home, on the 3rd local time, Discord announced that its third-party customer service provider suffered a hacker breach, resulting in the theft of some customer information which was then used to extort Discord.
This cybersecurity incident affected certain Discord users who had contacted the customer support or trust and safety teams, involving chat logs, real names, usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, transaction history, payment information, the last four digits of credit cards, and a small number of identity documents submitted for age verification. Upon discovery, Discord immediately revoked the third party's access to its ticketing system. According to preliminary analysis, the unauthorized party responsible for the attack did not have the capability to directly access Discord's systems.
