0G partners with Nanyang Technological University Singapore to launch S$5 million decentralized AI research center
The collaboration will promote the integration of academic research and infrastructure for non-traditional AI systems.

Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) has partnered with decentralized AI infrastructure company Zero Gravity (0G) to establish a S$5 million research center dedicated to advancing blockchain-based artificial intelligence technologies. This marks 0G's first collaboration with a university, aiming to develop more transparent, open, and traceable AI systems. The partnership will support multiple research initiatives focusing on decentralized AI training, blockchain-integrated model alignment, and consensus mechanisms based on useful proof-of-work.
The initiative will leverage blockchain technology to record and verify every stage of AI processing, offering greater transparency and trustworthiness compared to traditional closed systems. Over the four-year program, activities will include workshops, coding competitions, scholarships, and open-source project collaborations, aiming to cultivate an emerging community around decentralized AI in Asia. Early proof-of-concept results are expected within two years, with pilot applications targeting finance, healthcare, and smart infrastructure sectors.
"Our mission is to make AI a public resource," said Michael Heinrich, CEO and co-founder of Zero Gravity. "By partnering with NTU, we aim to collaborate with global leaders in blockchain and computing research to overcome the limitations of centralized AI. We will build an open ecosystem where developers, institutions, and communities can participate, verify, and audit."
NTU's School of Computing and Data Science and its Center for Computational Finance & Technology (CCTF) will lead research on scalable model training, AI governance, and blockchain-based security frameworks, helping position Singapore as a leading hub for decentralized AI innovation.
