Why hasn't a decentralized Disney taken off?
The future of entertainment isn't about creating a new Disney, but about recognizing and nurturing the decentralized Disney that already exists.

In the last cycle, both retail investors and VCs latched onto the idea that crypto could give birth to a "decentralized Disney." Despite ample seed funding and high expectations, this vision never materialized. Why?
Certainly, poor user experience, high transaction fees, slow speeds, and inadequate infrastructure played their parts. But the core failure was not recognizing that the foundation for a decentralized Disney already exists—and is thriving through internet memes spreading rapidly online.
Generation Z urgently needs content told in their language—the language of internet culture. The old narratives—(crypto or otherwise)—of “a boy and girl striving in the big city, achieving their dreams, and living happily ever after”—no longer resonate.

The Real Problem: Curation, Not Creation
Doge, Wojak (Feels Guy), Chad, Giga Chad, Trad Girl, Soyjack, Doomer, NPC, Zoomer Wojak, Virgin Wojak, dogwifhat, Popcat, Pepe the Frog, the "Are ya winning, son" father and son duo, Schizo, Yes Chad, Midwit, LoFi Girl, Simple Jack, Retardio, Milady, Intellectual Chad, and many more—these are all internet memes.
The number of characters—and their derivatives—generated by the internet is unlimited, growing exponentially across every direction (good, bad, ugly, left, right, healthy, extreme, hyper-financialized, etc.).
We don’t need to create new intellectual property (IP). Instead, we need to curate what already exists: organic, beloved communities and visual languages. Memes are the backbone of internet culture, and their decentralized nature embodies the spirit of crypto. We don’t need to invent new IP, and we certainly don’t need to slow down creation by involving thousands of people.
What we need is to curate existing, organically developed, and widely loved communities. As the charts below show, there’s no shortage of characters or content creation/development.

Efficiency of Centralized Management for Decentralized Content
While decentralized creation fosters diverse contributions, it often leads to fragmented and inconsistent content. A centralized curator—in this case, I propose CC0 Studios—can manage these inputs, ensuring a unified vision and quality control. This approach combines the strengths of decentralized creativity with the structure needed to produce coherent and marketable content.
With centralized management, we can streamline communication and ensure greater consistency in the final product—because you don’t want to end up in a "too many cooks" situation.
Why CC0 Studios and Normal Mfer?
CC0 Studios and Normal Mfer aim to leverage existing internet-native and crypto-native memes and IP to create content that speaks the language of the internet. By operating at the intersection of internet-native culture and crypto-native meme culture, we will build a library of highly shareable online content. This strategy is backed by a community with aligned financial incentives (for example, if you own a Normal Mfer NFT or $mfer token, why wouldn’t you share a Normal Mfer GIF?), aiming to bring these characters to the mainstream and drive a new wave of digital culture that is both creative and economically viable.
Conclusion
The future of entertainment isn't about creating a new Disney—it's about recognizing and nurturing the decentralized Disney that already exists. By curating and energizing the thriving meme communities online, we can create a new paradigm of high-quality entertainment deeply rooted in internet culture.
