On May 5, ETHGlobal Sydney Hackathon, featuring a total prize pool of $100,000, announced its eight finalist projects: Relief Link, HoverChain, Retake//Regen, Cache Coherence, 0xPoll, Roman Kyoto, Zeke, and AlibudaHabitBuilder. Here’s an overview of the eight projects:
Relief Link
Relief Link is an innovative service designed to automatically distribute aid immediately after disasters, leveraging blockchain technology for efficient and secure operations. The project integrates Chainlink oracles for real-time disaster monitoring and automated transactions, ensuring timely assistance delivery to affected individuals within specific areas. The system attracts users—including those new to cryptocurrency—through account abstraction via Unlimit and third-party networks, enabling convenient access with fiat currency options.
Relief Link uses Worldcoin for identity verification to maintain system integrity and prevent fraud, ensuring each verified user receives aid only once. The platform leverages PredictHQ's API to track and analyze the impact of various natural disasters (such as floods, fires, and earthquakes) within a 100-kilometer radius of user registration locations. This data is visualized on the website, offering insights into recent disaster trends across the Asia-Pacific region.
HoverChain
HoverChain is a Google Chrome extension that enables instant access to blockchain data by hovering over identifiers. Simply select a blockchain identifier—such as an Ethereum address or contract—and a detailed pop-up window appears, displaying key statistics including wallet balance, recent transactions, and available smart contract interactions. HoverChain utilizes the Alchemy API and Mantle Block Explorer API to access up-to-date blockchain information.
Restake//Regen
An EigenLayer AVS public good that enables Ethereum validators to offset a portion of the network's carbon emissions by committing to purchase and retire high-quality carbon credits.
Validators register (opt-in) with the Restake//Regen AVS and choose their commitment percentage of the total Ethereum network (ranging from 0.0001% to 1%). Every epoch (28 days), they must send the required amount of CHAR tokens to the Restake//Regen treasury contract, which can then be withdrawn periodically. Receipts for each donation are stored in the treasury.
Cache Coherence
Cache Coherence extends account-abstraction-enabled smart wallets using CCIP and World Coin to recover lost keys. It functions as an extension of EIP-4337 account-abstraction smart contract wallets deployable on any EVM chain. The wallet setup includes integrating WorldCoin ID, which provides a secondary authentication method usable for recovery in case of key loss.
However, only a limited number of blockchains support the WorldCoin verification method. Therefore, CCIP acts as a bridge between the account wallet and the WorldCoin verifier. Being bidirectional, CCIP allows proofs to be sent from the account to WorldCoin, and upon successful or failed verification, responses are sent back to the account via CCIP.
0xPoll
The political voting platform 0xPoll aims to create an application allowing users to associate their WorldID with voter roll details, then interact with a voting platform reflecting legislative proposals in the Australian Federal Parliament—all without revealing any personal information. 0xPoll enables users to vote on individual bills, with voting results aggregated at the electorate level to effectively lobby sitting members of parliament.
Roman Kyoto
Roman Kyoto is a cross-chain Multi-Asset Shielded Pool (MASP) that allows users to deposit and privately transfer ERC-20 tokens. Users can withdraw tokens from the pool at any time, up to the amount currently available in their MASP balance.
Currently, Roman Kyoto supports private single-chain deposits, withdrawals, and transfers. A CCIP contract has been created, but additional integration is needed to enable cross-chain private transfers.
Zeke
Zeke is the first ZK-powered PayPal on-and-off ramp solution, featuring native Telegram integration and account abstraction for a seamless user experience. Zeke allows users to onboard (convert fiat to stablecoins) in a fully decentralized peer-to-peer manner via a Telegram Bot, using off-chain payment channels such as Venmo and PayPal.
Current fiat on-and-off ramp providers face challenges such as cumbersome user flows, inconvenience, and extensive KYC data requirements. Zeke addresses these issues by offering users an easy-to-use interface and operability through a Telegram Bot.
AlibudaHabitBuilder
The AlibudaHabitBuilder project encourages people to form new habits through a unique staking mechanism. Users first register by tapping a Base smart wallet three times. To participate in a challenge, users stake a certain amount of funds as a commitment to developing the habit they wish to adopt.
AlibudaHabitBuilder offers two habit-building tracks: one focused on mental health and the other on physical health. For mental well-being, participants are encouraged to enjoy nature and engage in offline interactions with friends, verified by tapping ARX NFC tags at designated locations. For physical health, the project integrates with Strava so exercise records can be automatically logged into Alibuda. Participants who maintain their habits have the chance to win NFTs and the staked funds of those who fail.
If participants fail to maintain their habits, 50% of their staked funds are automatically allocated to public goods, while the remaining 50% rewards those who successfully uphold their commitments.
