Hong Kong's Stablecoin Ordinance will take effect on August 1, 2025
According to an official announcement, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government published the "Stablecoin Ordinance (Commencement Date) Notice" in the Gazette today (June 6), designating August 1, 2025 as the date when the Stablecoin Ordinance (Chapter 656) (the "Ordinance") will come into effect. Financial Secretary Christopher Hui stated: "Upon the Ordinance's commencement, the licensing regime will provide appropriate regulation for relevant stablecoin activities."
