TechFlow news, on March 18, according to Unchainedcrypto, Cronos has passed a proposal to restore 70 billion burned CRO tokens, but a temporary large vote by Crypto.com sparked controversy within the community.
During the voting period from March 2 to March 16, in most of the time, the number of "yes" votes barely exceeded "no" votes, yet the project had not reached the required quorum of 33.4%.
Just hours before voting ended, validator nodes believed to be controlled by Crypto.com suddenly cast 3.35 billion CRO tokens in support of the proposal, ultimately passing it with 61.18% approval, 17.61% opposed, 20.11% abstaining, and 0.11% vetoed. It is reported that Crypto.com controls 70–80% of the total voting power.
The newly minted 70 billion tokens will unlock over five years and be used for various purposes, including funding a potential CRO ETF.
