TechFlow news, January 18 — According to market sources, the leadership of the Ethereum Foundation may undergo significant changes, potentially related to previous widespread criticism from the community.
In addition, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that a major restructuring of the Ethereum Foundation's leadership is currently underway—efforts that have been ongoing for nearly a year. Some changes have already been implemented and announced, while others are still in progress. The main goals include:
-
Enhancing the technical expertise within the Ethereum Foundation’s leadership;
-
Improving two-way communication and engagement between the Foundation's leadership and both new and existing ecosystem participants. Our responsibility is to support: users (individuals and institutions), application developers, wallets, and L2s;
-
Bringing in fresh talent to improve execution capability and speed;
-
More actively supporting application developers to ensure key values and irrevocable rights—especially privacy, open source, and censorship resistance—are upheld for users across all layers, including the application layer;
-
Continuing to promote greater use of decentralized and privacy-preserving technologies on Ethereum, including for payments and fund management.
Meanwhile, the following must be avoided:
-
Enforcing any ideological or cultural shift;
-
Engaging in active lobbying of regulators and powerful political figures (particularly in the U.S., but indeed anywhere, especially in major countries), thereby risking damage to Ethereum’s status as a globally neutral platform;
-
Becoming an arena for vested interests;
-
Evolving into a highly centralized organization, or becoming the “central actor” of Ethereum.
