TechFlow news, on October 24, the Ethereum Layer 2 network Base officially announced that it will activate the "fault proofs" functionality on its mainnet on October 30, marking a critical step toward decentralization.
The introduction of fault proofs means anyone can monitor and permissionlessly challenge invalid withdrawals, eliminating reliance on trusted third parties. This feature will significantly enhance network security and transparency, providing users with a more reliable transaction environment.
The Base team stated they have been closely collaborating with Optimism to ensure this functionality is safely introduced and smoothly upgraded on the Base network. Notably, when the upgrade occurs, all pending withdrawal transactions will need to undergo re-proving.
