TechFlow, California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed the artificial intelligence bill SB 1047 on September 30, stating that it would hinder innovation and fail to effectively protect the public.
He pointed out that the bill focused too heavily on regulating large AI companies while overlooking the real threats posed by new technologies. Although Newsom supports AI safety protocols, the bill was unpopular among lawmakers and tech companies, many of whom believed it would stifle AI development.
