TechFlow news — On September 26, OpenAI CEO and co-founder Sam Altman announced major executive changes at the company via social media, stating that CTO Mira Murati, Chief Scientist Bob, and another executive Barret are departing. Altman emphasized that these decisions were independent and amicable. Mark will take over as Senior Vice President of Research, jointly leading the research team with Chief Scientist Jakub. Josh Achiam will assume the role of Head of Mission Alignment, Kevin and Srinivas will continue to lead the applied team, and Matt Knight will serve as Chief Information Security Officer. Altman stressed that although the changes are sudden, leadership transitions are a natural outcome of the company's rapid growth. He plans to refocus his energy on the company's technology and products and will discuss these changes further during an all-hands meeting.
