TechFlow news, according to Courthouse News, Musk filed a lawsuit on Thursday accusing OpenAI of violating agreements intended to ensure artificial intelligence technology benefits humanity. He argued that OpenAI's relationship with Microsoft undermines the company's original public commitments.
Musk stated that OpenAI has become a closed-source de facto subsidiary of Microsoft, rather than remaining a public, open-source AI organization. He demands that OpenAI revert to an open-source model and requests the court to prevent OpenAI and Microsoft from profiting off AI technologies.
In addition, Musk pointed out that GPT-4, OpenAI's latest model released in 2023, remains a closed system instead of being open AI. He expressed concern that this move is driven by commercial interests rather than humanity's well-being.
Musk also referenced the incident involving Altman's dismissal and reinstatement, claiming it led to Microsoft gaining control over OpenAI's board. He believes this could prevent the declaration of GPT-4 as an artificial general intelligence, in order to maintain the technology's proprietary and profitable status.
