TechFlow news: Arbitrum developer Offchain Labs has launched Bounded Liquidity Delay (BoLD), a permissionless validation protocol.
Ed Felten, co-founder and chief scientist at Offchain Labs, said BoLD will be the first protocol to resolve rollup disputes, allowing anyone to become a validator without risking delay attacks. The key property of BoLD that prevents delay attacks is its ability to resolve all disputes in a single round, regardless of how many conflicting claims are made or how many parties are involved.
Felten noted that in the coming weeks and months, Offchain Labs will release instructions and conduct testing for running the Nitro developer testnet using BoLD. "We expect the Arbitrum DAO will subsequently consider whether to deploy BoLD on Arbitrum One and Nova," he said. "Once BoLD is stabilized on the testnet, developers of Orbit chains will have the option to adopt it."
